Building Cost-Saving Energy Efficiency Features Into EVERY HOME
ENERGY STAR® Certified
Recognized for energy efficiency and environmental sensitivity, each Eco Smart Home
is ENERGY STAR® Certified making them at least 15% more efficient than 2007 Code
Built Homes and at least 30% more efficient than 2000 Code Built Homes. Every home
is tested to meet stringent requirements and that pays back, big time.
Blower Door Test
Air leakage accounts for 1/3 of a home's heat loss. To find any leaks we conduct
home tightness tests, otherwise known as the blower door test.
HVAC Unit and Duct Sizing
We look for every opportunity to incorporate energy efficiency because we know it
will result in a quality, healthy home. That's why each home in our Eco Smart Program
has its own AC/Heating blueprint based on the number of windows and other details
in the home. Based on all components working together as a system, we properly size the HVAC system using the industry standard, Manual
J, and size all ducts according to the Air Conditioning Contractors of America Manual
D and EPA standards.
Combustion Appliances Installed Outside of the Thermal
Boundary
For your health and safety, all combustion appliances including the furnace and
water heater are installed outside of the thermal boundary.
ENERGY STAR® Rated Programmable Thermostats
With a programmable Honeywell Deluxe humidistat thermostat, you can control the
amount of energy you use according to your schedule and dramatically lower your
energy costs.
ENERGY STAR® Rated Dishwasher
ENERGY STAR® rated dishwashers use 3 gallons less per load, which not only saves
the cost of those three gallons of water, but also the cost to heat them. In fact,
it can save 25% every time you run it.
Baffles Above Soffit Vents
A well-ventilated attic keeps the house more comfortable in summer and guards against
moist, heated air building up in winter. To optimize circulation and heat displacement,
baffles are installed above soffit vents to increase airflow.
Balanced Air Pressure
Jump ducts, returns or transfer grills in all bedrooms work to create balanced air
pressure allowing the HVAC system to perform at peak efficiency and provide maximum
comfort.
Radiant Barrier Roof Decking
Your home features radiant barrier roof decking in the attic which drastically lowers
attic temperature and reduces heat being transferred into the home and extending
air conditioner life.
16 SEER A/C System
The A/C system has a higher Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio so it’s more efficient
and requires less energy to run. You benefit from lower energy costs, less noise
and more effective climate control.
Recessed Can Lights - ICAT Rated
With recessed lighting that is ICAT (Insulated Can/Airtight) rated, you can highlight
specific areas in a room or accentuate decorative elements - all while minimizing
heat loss.
Sealing
To ensure a healthier indoor environment, we seal all plumbing, electrical and other
penetrations of walls and floors as well as joints between building material with
polyurethane.
Third Party Energy Inspections
You not only have our word that your home is energy efficient, but the word of an
objective third party too. Outside inspection firms will conduct an inspection of
the building envelope for all penetrations to assure your home meets all energy
efficiency and quality standards.
